PURPOSE:To prevent wasteful recording paper by providing a control means for changing the information quantity or its form of picture information relating to communication in response to a page of the sent picture information to allow the operator at the reception side to utilize the communication picture information properly. CONSTITUTION:The control means for changing the information quantity or form of the picture information relating to the communication in response to the page of the sent picture information is provided and in case of the transmission of the1st page, communication information of a detailed form outputted by a communication information output circuit 14 is encoded modulated independently of the original picture information and the result is sent to a telephone line 2a. In this case, a control circuit 32 brings the level of a signal 32b to logical 1 to allow a coding circuit 12 to select the output of a communication information output circuit 14. In the transmission of 2nd and succeeding pages, a level 0 is outputted to the signal line 32b and the picture information obtained by adding communication information of a simple form outputted from a communication information output circuit 15 to the original picture information outputted from a read circuit 10 is encoded and modulated and then outputted.
