Novel 1H-2,3-benzoxazine derivatives of the formula wherein R is H or C 1-8 alkyl, R<SP>1</SP> is H, C 1-8 alkyl, dialkylaminoalkyl, optionally substituted aryl, or R and R<SP>1</SP> taken together with the N atom form a heterocyclic ring and X is a halogen atom are prepared by heating at 70‹ to 150‹ C. the appropriate 4 - halogeno - 1H - 2,3 - benzoxazines with at least an equimolecular quantity of compounds of the formula NHRB<SP>1</SP>. Pharmaceutical compositions having sedative, hypnotic, tranquillizing and anti-inflammatory activity and suitable for oral or parenteral administration contain one of the above novel compounds as the active ingredient together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.</p> |
