A method for continuously making hollow structures of thermoplastic synthetic resin. The resin is heated and extruded to form a continuous hollow structure. Fluid coolant is forced onto the outer surface of the structure and subsequently removed so as to provide for cooling of the outer surface of the structure without retaining stress therein due to quick cooling of the structure. The structure is then continuously shaped in an externally disposed suction mechanism while slowly cooling the structure. The structure may then be reheated to remove any residual stress.
