PURPOSE:To obtain a printing position specifically spaced from an end of a web, by a method wherein the end of the web is detected by photo heads so that cylinders are moved in the width's direction as much as the width's direction travel distance of the end. CONSTITUTION:In first, second, and third ... units 10, 20, and 30..., the shift amounts of an end position of a web A are respectively detected by photo heads 14, 24, and 34... on the ways to the positions at which the web A passes cylinders 11, 21, and 31.... Controllers 15, 25, and 35... actuate motors 13, 23, and 33... to move the cylinders 11, 21, and 31... in the width's direction according to the respective detected shift amounts, thereby conducting a multicolor rotary printing. In this manner, a constant positional relationship between the end of the web and the cylinders is established, which enables a printing position to be specifically separated from the end of the web without the trouble of printing a special register mark. |
