PURPOSE:To prevent defect such as penetration of oxide slag to a build-up layer in the case of forming a build-up layer by tinkering building up to the outside circumference of a base metal by preliminarily pouring a fused flux onto a molten metal to shut off the surface of the molten metal from the atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A refractory heating mold 1, a buffer mold 3 and a water cooled mold 4 are coaxially disposed and a cavity is formed at the center. The base metal 5 is loosely fitted therein from above. After the base material 5 is loosely fitted, the molten metal is thrown into the cavity and the preliminarily fused flux is thrown therein. Although the molten metal 7 is vigorously stirred by an induction heating coil 2, the flux 6 covers the surface of the molten metal at all times. The base material 5 descends gradually and the molten metal 7 beings to solidify from the part where the molten metal contacts with the buffer mold 3, thus forming the build-up layer 8. The required amt. of the molten metal is replenished according to the formation of the build-up layer.
