PURPOSE:To manufacture a Ti alloy excellent in strength, ductility, and toughness at a low cost by subjecting a Ti alloy, which has a specific composition consisting of Al, V, O, Ca, and Ti and in which Fe, C, and N as impurities are limited, to heat treatment under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:The Ti alloy, which consists of, by weight, 2-8% Al, 2-6% V, 0.3-1.0% O, 10-500ppm Ca, and the balance Ni with inevitable impurities and in which Fe, C, and N as impurities are regulated to <=0.5%, <=0.10%, and <=0.05%, respectively, is heated and held at a temp. of beta-transus point or below, 20-60 deg.C, and then cooled down to 500 deg.C and below at a rate of 0.5-5 deg.C/S. In this way, a Ti-6Al-4V alloy forming a fine acicular alpha-structure and improved in mechanical properties can be obtained at a low cost.
