PURPOSE:To manufacture a cast composite material having high hardness and excellent in wear resistance, heat resistance, etc., by pelletizing ferrite-ceramic composite grains, by blending grains of metallic body with the pellets, by melting the resulting mixture at high temp., and by pouring the molten metal into a mold to undergo cooling. CONSTITUTION:A number of ceramic-body fine grains are mixed with an aq. soln. of ferric chloride, to which an aq. soln. of complex salt prepared by putting a piece of iron into an aq. soln. of ferric chloride is added. Then an aq. soln. of caustic soda is mixed with the resulting combined aq. soln. In this way, ferrite-ceramic composite grains in which ferrite resulting from reducing reaction is allowed to adhere by coagulation to the surface of the ceramic fine grains are obtained. The powder of the above grains is kneaded with water and/or binder into stiff sludge, which is subjected to pelletizing and drying treatment to be formed into pellets. The above pellets are then mixed with the powder of metallic-body grains, which is agitated into a composite powdery material. The above composite powdery material is put into a crucible, which is melted at high temp. in a high temp. reducing furnace, etc., and the resulting molten metal is poured into a mold and then cooled. In this way, the cast composite body in which a number of ferrite-ceramic composite grains are dispersedly mixed into the metallic body can be obtained.
