PURPOSE:To protect a state that a monitor node exists on a loop network by providing a monitor protection setting register, a node supervisory control section and a timer section in a monitor node setting control section. CONSTITUTION:A claim talken frame received from a transmission line 100 is subjected to the extraction of address information by a reception section 70. A control section receiving the information starts a claim talken transmission section 60 and the transmission section 60 sends the claim talken frame to the line 100. When the addresses from its own node and the reception section 70 are coincident, a control section 50 sends the set request of a monitor set protection register 20 to the node supervisory control section 10 and sends a monitor node setting request in addition. After the monitor node is set, the control section 10 always supervises the register 20 and a command register 80 based on the start of the timer section 30.
