PURPOSE:To decrease incurring of the power loss of a pump, by a method wherein an oil pressure in the oil pressure control device of an automatic transmission is controlled and set depending upon the intensity of the temperature of intake air from an engine. CONSTITUTION:A means is provided for detecting the temperature of intake air from an engine. Means is provided for controlling and setting an oil pressure in the oil pressure control device of an automatic transmission depending upon the intensity of the temperature of intake air from an engine. The oil pressure is a line oil pressure or an oil pressure which is fed directly to a frictional engaging device. This constitution enables reduction of incurring of a power loss and reduction of production of transmission shock.
