1278524 Relaying railway track F PLASSER 13 Oct 1969 [16 Oct 1968] 50192/69 Heading E1G In a railway track laying train of the type wherein a section of the new and/or old rails 2 is held raised by guides 7' while the old sleepers are picked up and/or new sleepers laid, as in Specifications 1077839 and 1278522 the sleepers are transferred to or from a transport truck (not shown) by a conveyer system which includes a short belt conveyer 8' carried by a turntable 8, whereby successive pairs of sleepers can be turned through 90‹ to or from their transverse laying disposition (as shown on conveyers 12) from or to a longitudinal transport disposition (as shown on conveyer 1). The conveyer system is carried by a frame 7 supported at one end by ballast-engaging wheels 9' and steerable endless tracks 9, and at the other end (not shown) by the track rails 2. In a laying operation the sleepers 3, which are longer than the turntable belt 8', are fed thereto by an inclined conveyer 1 communicating with the transport truck, and are removed therefrom by pairs of conveyers 12, 13 communicating with tiltable roller tracks 25 supplying single sleepers to a laying fork 5. The turntable can also be tilted between a horizontal and an inclined plane. The necessary raising, lowering, tilting and intermittent drives of the laying fork, the conveyers, and the turntable to effect sleeper transfer are controlled by switches and stops 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 32, 33. The obliquity of a new sleeper - e.g. at curves - is determined by adjustable stops 31, while its transverse position is monitored by a feeler 32' of a control switch 32. |
