PURPOSE:To enable the proper control of an engine without any preparation of a detailed air-fuel ratio map for each type of engine by judging an engine operation range on the basis of loads and the number of revolutions, and reading out target air-fuel ratio information set for each operation range. CONSTITUTION:A controller 106 is inputted with detected values from a boost sensor 104, an all-range fuel-air ratio sensor 105, a speed sensor 111 and the like. The controller 106 reads target air-fuel ratio information from a map at other than speed reduction, on the basis of input values detected by the boost sensor 104 and the speed sensor 111. And opening time for a fuel injection valve 109 is feedback controlled so that the detected value of the all-range air-fuel ratio sensor 105 will be the target air-fuel ratio as reed out.
