PURPOSE:To make the positioning of several types of works performable, by installing plural stopper members being selectively operated in a positioning device body, in case of a device which installs a pair of work receivers in the said body in a way of having them opposed in a work positioning direction. CONSTITUTION:A positioning device 9 suitable for holding a large-sized work such as a side panel or the like of an automobile for position installs a pair of work receivers 11 and 12 being opposed with each other in a work positioning direction in the device body 10 attached to a piston rod 9b of a cylinder. In this case, a pair of adapter plates 13 and 14 to which these work receivers 11 and 12 are attached are supported on the body 10, and both these adapter plates 13 and 14 are contacted or separated to or from an interconnecting member 15. And, plural pieces of stopper members 16 regulating each approach motion of both these adapter plates 13 and 14 to be inserted into an interval between these adapter plates 13 and 14 are installed in the body 10, and these stopper members 16 should selectively be free of operation with a cylinder 16a according to work types.
