PURPOSE:To improve picture quality by executing interpolation calculation for respective picture element near a border of image parts in accordance with the inclination of the border. CONSTITUTION:A border detecting circuit 11 detects the border of an image part of input image information DIN and an inclination detecting circuit 12 obtains respective horizontal and vertical inclination information DSP for picture elements on respective border points constituting the border based on the detected result. A correcting circuit 13 executes interpolation calculation for the image information of horizontal and vertical picture elements near respective border points in accordance with the inclination information DSP to correct the stair-like zigzag along the border line. Consequently, the picture quality can be improved. |
