PURPOSE:To prevent a circular cross-sectioned material from being damaged and to prevent noise, by forming the upper surface of front end of a detecting lever incorporating in a chain conveyer in such a shape that it is conformed with the extension of the tangential line of a detecting roller by a predetermined length. CONSTITUTION:During conveyance of a long length material, a detecting lever 16 projects from the upper surface of a skid 11 while a dog roller 25 also projects from the upper surface of the skid 11, and therefore, the dog roller 18 rotates and pushes a material A'. When the material is stopped at the terminal end, a detecting roller 18 is pressed in by means of the material A' while a retainer roller 19 is floated up in association with the rotation of the detecting lever 16 to allow the dog roller 25 to sink, and therefore, the rotation and feed of the roller 25 becomes ineffective so that it is stopped. At this time the front end of the detecting lever 16 is conformed with the extension of the tangential line of the detecting roller 18, and therefore, the dog roller 25 surely sinks even through the roller 18 passes through under the stopped material A'. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent each adjacent materials from being bumped with each other.
