PURPOSE:To increase the freedom of positioning a branch tube of a muffler avoiding the surrounding appliances, by arranging a large bore portion and a small bore portion making steps in this order from the gas passage tube side. CONSTITUTION:When a branch tube 2 is furnished at the gas passage tube 1 of a side branch type muffler, the branch tube 2 is composed by forming a large core portion 3 and a small bore portion 4 making steps in this order from the gas passage tube 1 side. Therefore, it is made possible to furnish the branch tube 2 avoiding the surrounding appliances.
