PURPOSE:To enable backwash washing to be easily and completely performed and to enable filtering operation for a long period by using a filter medium which is formed by boring proper numbers of through-holes having a proper diameter on a freely extensible and contractible base body. CONSTITUTION:Liquid contg. e.g. a solid dirty substance is filtered by a filter medium 1 consisting of silicone rubber and urethan rubber or the like which is formed by boring proper numbers of through-holes 3 having a proper diameter on a freely extensible and contractible base body 2 and also the through-holes 3 are extended in a time of backwash and contracted in case of refiltering it after finish of backwash. As a result, backwash washing can be easily and completely performed. When stopping feed of washing water after finish of backwash washing, it is easily restored and filtering operation is enabled for a long period by repeat this operation.
