PURPOSE:To continuously and automatically perform the sampling of a contaminant from an object to be inspected, by feeding the specimen sampling tape mounted to the leading end of an arm head while pressing the same to the surface of the rotating object to be inspected. CONSTITUTION:Arms 2-4 sampling the contaminant adhered to the upper plate Da, side plate Db and bottom plate Dc of a rotating object to be inspected, for example, a drum packed with radioactive waste are provided. A specimen sampling tape is wound around the arm heads 22, 32, 42 mounted to the leading ends of the arms 2-4 and the drum D is rotated while the tape is pressed to the drum D by press mechanisms 27, 37, 47. The tape after the sampling of a specimen is drawn out to be cut into a predetermined length and fed by a feeder 44 to be supplied to a measuring chamber 5 and received in a disposal box 6 after measurement. By this method, the sampling of the contaminant can be performed continuously, automatically and safely.
