PURPOSE:To obtain a light transmitting body having extremely high precision of shape and stable quality by coating the inside wall surface of a vessel with a copolymer of monomers having the highest monomer reactivity ratio or with a material having high affinity with the copolymer. CONSTITUTION:Inside wall surface of a polymn. tube 1 is coated previously with an acrylic F-contg. resin paint. The polymn. tube 1 is transferred from above downward with a fixed speed through a constant temp. chamber 2A. Thus, the monomer mixture in the tube 1 is heated and irradiated with light successively from its foot end. Copolymn. occurs at the bottom of the polymn. tube 1. Although the volume of the polymn. tube 1 is contracted by the polymn., no void is formed in the polymn. tube by the continuous feed of the monomer mixture from an unpolymerized part at the top of the polymn. tube 1. In accordance with the movement of the polymn. tube 1, the polymerizing part is transferred upward successively, and finally the whole monomer mixture in the polymn. tube 1 is solidified.
