PURPOSE:To cause no possibility that an original platen is moved by its dead weight, damaged or hurts an operator, etc., even if a device body is inclined at the time of storage, transportation, etc., by detecting the inclination of the device body and preventing the movement of the original platen. CONSTITUTION:A lever 28 is an original platen drop preventive lever being an inclination detecting means for detecting an inclination of the copying machine body, and supported so as to be freely turnable by a shaft 29 which has been fixed onto an original platen driving device 24. A ratchet 30 is a movement obstructing means of an original platen, which has been formed as one body with a backward motion use output gear. The original platen drop preventive lever 28 turns in the direction (b) by a dead weight by setting up the copying machine body, and a claw part 28-a which has been provided as one body with this original platen drop preventive lever 28 is engaged to a tooth of the ratchet 30. In this engaged state, the backward motion use output gear 27 cannot rotate in the direction as indicated with an arrow (c), therefore, even if the original platen 1 tries to drop own in the direction as indicated with an arrow (d), it cannot execute a drop movement in the direction as indicated with the arrow (d), since it is connected to the backward motion use output gear 27 through a rack gear 23.
