PURPOSE:To decrease a crop loss, by dividing an intermediate article into semi- products and main products, having a length selected from a predetermined staged size so as to change in an equal pitch, and taking the other product of length, selected from the above described size, from the rest part. CONSTITUTION:Main products C and semi-products D1, D2 are taken as many as possible from the total length of a streak material obtained by rolling a billet, and an intermediate article B is divided into the main products and the semi-products. The other product C' of selected size is taken from the rest amount, and the residual part forms a crop E. Each intermediate article is formed so as to be an integral multiple of the above described pitch. Accordingly, a size of the intermediate article can be formed as long as possible, in this way, many products of various sizes can be obtained, and the crop can be shortened by that amount.
