PURPOSE:To enable heat treatment enough to cover the deep center of a turbine runner by dividing the runner into an inducer part and an impeller part for the convenience of manufacture, coupling said parts to each other monolithically on shrinkage fitting and machining simultaneously the runner so made on a 5-axis machine tool. CONSTITUTION:A runner material is machined into an inducer element 1 and an impeller element 2 for shrinkage fitting and made into a monolithically shaped runner material after shrinkage fitting. The runner material so made is exposed to simultaneous 5-axis machining on an NC 5-axis machine tool and finished to a large-sized runner of three dimensional shape. As aforementioned, a large-sized runner element is divided into portions for manufacture and said portions are shrinkage fitted to each other monolithically after heat treatment, as a machining method for an exhaust turbine supercharger runner. According to this method, the effect of heat treatment is sufficiently extended to the center deep in the runner. Consequently, there is no partial drop in mechanical properties and an unexpected trouble does not occur.
