PURPOSE:To improve an S/N due to the increase in a light quantity and the removal of a noise component by providing a reflecting means, a lens-shaped one dimensional condensing means and a filter along a potosensor (PS) to identify an one-dimensional signal light of a bar code, etc. CONSTITUTION:The signal of a bar code symbol 13 arrives at a condenser lens 12 through a reading lens 14, arrives at a light receiving part 7 and a symbol signal (l), when the condensing lens is present, is compressed with l' and an incident light is increased. A front pin is obtained by the lens 12, and the influence of a void spot is hard to be occur and the good convenience is obtained. The signal made incident on the periphery of a PS 8 by a reflection mirror 9 is guided to the PS 8, comes to be the increase in the light quantity and an S/N is increased. Further, the wavelength of a signal light can be selected by a filter 11, a noise component is removed and an S/N is improved.
