PURPOSE:To obtain a color liquid crystal display whose display is bright, and also whose display contrast is excellent, by using a color polarizer and laminating two pieces of liquid crystal cells. CONSTITUTION:Color polarizers 121, 122 and 123 of red, green and blue are formed by sticking a uniaxial oriented PVA film onto one glass substrate 11 of the liquid crystal cell, and dyeing it to a prescribed pattern by using the two-color dyestuff of red, green and blue. On said polarizer, a patterned transparent electrode 13 is provided, and also a liquid crystal molecule oriented film 14 is formed. On the other glass substrate 15, a patterned transparent electrode 16 and a liquid crystal molecule oriented film 17 are formed. By using said two pieces of substrates, the liquid crystal cell 9 of the first layer is formed. Subsequently, the liquid crystal cell 10 of the second layer is formed by the same method, but as for the color of the color polarizer, a color being different from the color of the color polarizer formed in the first layer is always selected. Also, absorption axis directions of the color polarizers are placed so as to be orthogonal to each other in the first layer and the second layer. |
