PURPOSE:To inexpensively produce a pressure-sensitive copying material having excellent performance, by using as an auxiliary solvent specified fractions obtained by thermal cracking of heavy bottoms of petroleum. CONSTITUTION:A copying material comprises an electron-acceptive color developer and an electron-donative color former both dissolved therein. A solvent used in the copying material is a mixed solvent comprising 50-95wt% of at least one hydrocarbon oil having at least two condensed or noncondensed aromatic rings and 5-50wt% of fractions comprising as main constituents 10-19C alkylated aromatic hydrocarbons having boiling points higher than that of the aromatic hydrocarbon mentioned below which are obtained by treating thermally cracked fractions obtained by thermal cracking of heavy bottoms of petroleum comprising hydrocarbons with boiling points of 30-200 deg.C as main constituents and comprising aliphatic olefins together with at least one aromatic hydrocarbon having a boiling point of not higher than 220 deg.C in the presence of an acid catalyst. By this, a color former solvent having excellent color forming characteristics can be obtained from the heavy bottoms. |
