PURPOSE:To obtain an optical material comprising resin having small surface reflection and high wear resistance by adding a beta-diketone compd. and/or a beta-ketoester compd. to the coating liquid to be used for forming hardened coating film comprising a silicone compd. CONSTITUTION:This resin film consisting primarily of acrylic and/or methacrylic compd. having 0.1-2mu film thickness is formed on the surface of a transparent synthetic resin material. Hardened coating film comprising silicone compd. having 1-10mu film thickness obtd. by heat setting a compsn. consisting primarily of at least one hydrolyzate and/or partially condensed product of the silane compd. expressed by the formula [wherein R<1> is an org. group contg. epoxy group; R<2> is 1-4C hydrocarbon group; R<3> is 1-4C hydrocarbon group, alkoxyalkyl group, acyl group; (a) is zero or 1], colloidal silica having 1-100mmu grain size, and at least one selected from beta-diketone and/or beta-ketoester compd. is formed. Further, a reflection reducing layer comprising an inorg. compd. is formed on the surface layer. Thus, coating liquid based on silicone compd. having long liquid life and stability is obtd. by using beta-diketone or beta-ketoester.
