This fermenter is of the static type for solid media and consists of an enclosure 1 intended to receive the culture medium and, within this enclosure, at least two compartments separated by at least one wall acting as a heat exchanger 3, the bottom of each compartment comprising at least one component acting as a gas distributor 7, while the top of each compartment is in free communication with the free volume of the said enclosure, which optionally has a closing member 2, itself capable of being put in communication with the outside. <IMAGE>
