PURPOSE:To improve the magnetic permeability of a head core by forming a stripe-shaped irregularity being roughly vertical to a magnetic path direction of a ring-shaped head core, on at least one surface of the head core, so that the magnetic path direction of the whole head core becomes an axis of hard magnetization. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of a substrate 1, a stripe-shaped irregularity 3 is formed radially in the periphery of a winding groove 2 by means of photolithography and etching. A step difference of the irregularity 3 is 8mum, and a pitch is about 100mum in the vicinity of the winding groove. Such design means as the step difference of the irregularity in the vicinity of a tape sliding part 9 is shallowed, or the stop difference of the irregularity 3 is shallowed gradually toward the tape sliding part 9 from the winding groove 2 are considered. By forming the stripe-shaped irregularity on the surface so as to become roughly vertical to the magnetic path direction of the head core, it can be set to a direction of an axis of hard magnetization extending over the whole length of the magnetic path direction. In this regard, the magnitude of a magnetic anisotropy can be varied optionally by changing the thickness of a head core 6, the step difference of the irregularity 3, and the pitch. |
