MAGNETIC RECORDING MATERIAL AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To improve corrosion resistance, wear resistance and lubricating characteristic by constituting vertical magnetic material parts on a substrate consisting of a magnetic material having horizontal magnetic anisotropy in such a manner as to provide projections thereof to an optional pattern. CONSTITUTION:The vertical magnetic material parts are constituted on the substrate consisting of the magnetic material having the horizontal magnetic anisotropy in such a manner as to provide the projections thereof to the optional pattern. The formation thereof is executed by a method consisting in forming the magnetic material layer exhibiting vertical magnetic anisotropy on the substrate consisting of the magnetic material having the horizontal magnetic anisotropy, masking the surface of the magnetic material layer to the optional pattern, etching away the magnetic material layer in the non-masked parts, and removing the masking if necessary. The magnetic recording material having the projecting vertical magnetic material parts is thus produced.
