A permanent joint between a collector hook and a wire fastened on the hook, e.g. in a collector committator motor, is produced using a constricted energetic beam (17) directed at the joint location to produce a fusion welded joint between the collector hook (11) and the wire (12). Also claimed is a collector of a motor with collector hooks joined to wires by the above process, each collector hook having, in the welding region, a reduced cross-section in the direction towards the clamped wire.
