PURPOSE:To prevent dust from entering into the interior and to detect that a card is normally inserted by providing plural switches operated by a shaft inserted so as to block the travel path of the card. CONSTITUTION:When the card is not inserted, the shaft 5 blocks the card path at an insertion port 3. Leaf contact points 8 and 9 between switches 6 and 7 retain the shaft 5. In that state and card path 4 is completely closed, which serves as a dust preventing function, and simultaneously the switches 6 and 7 are in off states. If the card 1 is inserted onto the card path 4, it pushes up the shaft 5 to turn on the switches 6 and 7, thereby detecting the insertion of the card 1. Since the switches 7 and 6 are serially connected, only a switch 8 is turned on if the card 1 is obliquely inserted with respect to the shaft 5. On the other hand, a switch 9 remains turned off, and the card 1 is not recognized as being normally inserted accordingly.
