WEAR TESTING METHOD FOR THIN FILM

PURPOSE:To know continuous wear or sudden fracture by fitting an AE sensor on an arm and observing the output of the AE sensor generated when a thin film is worn. CONSTITUTION:A wear pin 3 and the AE sensor 4 are fitted to a spring material 5 fixed to the arm 6 and the wear pin 3 is pressed against the surface of a disk 2. Then, the disk 2 is rotated to start testing the wear of the disk. The output of the AE sensor 4 is detected and dislayed as the surface of the disk 2 is wron or deforms by the pin. When the thin film of r-Fe2O3 on the surface of the disk is fractured, the output of the AE sensor increases greatly and the fracture is therefore known.
