PURPOSE:To obtain a power transmission device with small loss by substantially equalizing connecting force before and after switching at the time of switching to the connection of a friction plate and a driving friction plate. CONSTITUTION:When a clutch fork 48 is turned around the turning center O, the travel of a driving friction plate 32 moving with the turning movement of a clutch fork 48 is fixed substantially equal to the difference in diameter between a large-diameter friction plate 36a and a small-diameter friction plate 36b. Accordingly, the urging force at the time of connecting the driving friction plate 32 to the large-diameter friction plate 36a substantially agrees with the urging force at the time of connecting the driving friction plate 32 to small- diameter friction plate 36b to lessen loss of power.
