The vegetables are individually separated by tipping them onto an inclined spout 1 which brings them onto a conveyor 2 with a double strip of rollers 4, 5 driven in rotation. The vegetables, kept separate between two successive rollers 4, 5 are caused to rotate about themselves by the said rollers and at the same time are subjected to a jet of sprayed pressurised water by means of nozzles 10 mounted on units arranged across the conveyor 2. <IMAGE>
