PURPOSE:To make the depth of a device smaller and to miniaturize the overall device by providing a slit into which only a magnetic stripe and a part with a stopper hole on a magnetic card can be inserted. CONSTITUTION:When the magnetic card 1 is inserted into the stopper 5 and attains the prescribed position (inserted into the recess), a sensor 6 detects such a state and outputs a signal. The solenoid of a stopper device 7 is degaussed by said signal, and due to the action of a coil spring 7b a stopper pin 7a downwardly projects and penetrates into the stopper hole 3 on the card 1. Thus it is never pulled out even if it is pulled by hands. When the stopper pin 7a downwardly projects, the sensor 8 detects the projection and outputs a signal, which rotates a motor 12. Accordingly, that revolution rotates a feed screw shaft 11, whereby a moving member 14 screwed with the shaft moves together with a magnetic head 15. As a result the magnetic head 15 scans the magnetic stripe on the card 1 to read or write. |
