PURPOSE:To simplify a mechanism installed on a tape travel path by installing the guide path of a leader block on a base casting. CONSTITUTION:A tape is pulled out of a supply reel 2, passed a tape buffer 3, a tape cleaner 4, a tape guide 5, a read/write head 7, a tape guide 6 and a tension sensor 8, in that order, and wound on a winding reel 9. A base 10 is equipped with a step. By rotating an arm 11, the leader block 12 is driven along the step, and the tape 13 fitted on the leader block is conveyed. The winding reel 9 has a notch reaching a center, which contains the leader block. An end point sensor 14 is installed at the position of the winding reel 9. When the arm reaches the position, the drive of a motor is stopped, and an automatic loading action is terminated.
