PURPOSE:To simplify equipment and to reduce costs by subjecting a green compact prepared by compacting a high-purity metallic chromium powder to which prescribed activator is added and sintered under prescribed conditions so as to obviate an atmospheric gas. CONSTITUTION:Boric acid or palladium (IV) salt is mixed as activator with the high-purity metallic chromium powder of >=99% purity. This powder mixture is compacted and the resulting green compact is sealed in a glass vessel in vacuum, which is heated to 1,000-1,400 deg.C to undergo sintering.
