PURPOSE:To obtain a silver halide photographic sensitive material superior in dimensional stability and small in fog by incorporating a latex having hydrophilic groups fixed to the surface and a divalent or tetravalent palladium complex salt in at least one of photographic constituent layers. CONSTITUTION:At least one of the photographic constituent layers contains the latex having the hydrophilic groups fixed to the surface and the divalent or tetravalent palladium complex salt. That the hydrophilic groups are fixed to the surface of the latex means the state where the latex is converted into a protective colloid with a polymer having the hydrophilic groups or the state where the compound having the hydrophilic groups participates in formation of the latex and arranged at the surface of the latex particles. As the polymer having the hydrophilic groups, both of synthetic and natural water-soluble polymers can be used satisfactorily, and the synthetic one can be embodied as one example by the formula shown on the right, and it is used, preferably, in an amount of 0.1-20wt% of the total monomers to be used. As the di- or tetra-valent palladium complex salt, the known ones can be optionally used. |
