PURPOSE:To prevent slippage of a belt due to the line pressure by providing a means for detecting an abrupt variation of the engine torque or the speed change ratio and setting the line pressure at the maximum value in a driving section independently from the target line pressure upon the occurrence of an abrupt variation. CONSTITUTION:The variation of the throttle opening is detected in a throttle opening variation detecting section 60 while an abrupt variation deciding section 62 will decide the abrupt variation of the engine torque or the speed change ratio. Then the target line pressure is corrected upward for a predetermined time interval in a line pressure correcting section 65. While the duty ratio is corrected upward to the maximum for a predetermined time interval in a duty ratio correcting section 66 and the line pressure control is performed on the basis of the corrected duty ratio. Consequently, the actual line pressure will rise most quickly toward the target line pressure resulting in prevention of the belt slippage due to the line pressure caused on the abrupt variation of the engine torque. |
