Process for producing a reinforcing element

A process for producing a reinforcing element, in particular for vehicle tyres, is described, which reinforcing element consists of a core of flexible organic material, for example rubber, and a layer of a multiplicity of spring-tempered metal wires which are stranded around the core. The metal wires are laid on the circumferential surface of the core equidistant from one another and when they meet the core, or directly thereafter, are fixed on the core and at a defined distance from one another by means of a strand wound onto the layer of wires with a short lay length.
