The whey or curdled milk is subjected to reverse osmosis by means of a membrane with open pores which is made by (a) pouring a film of a pour mass which consists of a cellulose ester, an organic solvent for the ester, and a swelling agent with a solvent for the swelling agent, such that the solvent is miscible with the organic solvent for the cellulose ester, or a liquid swelling agent which is miscible with the organic solvent for the cellulose ester; (b) evaporating at least a portion of the organic solvent in order to obtain a membrane, and (c) immersing the membrane in a water-contg. soln. of a surfactant; the surfactant is opt. omitted if the pour mixture contains at least 4% wt. of zinc chloride as swelling agent. Used in the prepn. of liquid animal feeding-stuffs or as a spray-dried product for addition to baby foods. |
