PURPOSE:An antitumor agent, containing chitin oligomer and/or chitosan oligomer as an active ingredient, having improved antitumor and immnunological enhancing activity and high safety and capable of readily formulating an injection, etc., and administration because of water-solubility thereof. CONSTITUTION:An antitumor agent containing chitin oligomer, e.g. di-N-acetyl- chitobiose, tri-N-acetyl-chitotriose, etc., and/or chitosan oligomer, e.g chitobiose, chitotriose, etc., as an active ingredient. The agent is effective for sarcoma 180, Ehrlich carcinoma, leukemia L-1210, etc. The dose thereof is preferably 0.01-150mg/kg/day. Since the agent is soluble in water, it is praticularly suitable for intravenous administration and use.
