The drivers for the transport of sheets in shears are designed in such a way that it is possible, on the one hand, to influence the direction in which the sheets run through the shear and, on the other hand, to influence the pack setting of the pinch rolls relative to the sheets without mutual impairment. Each pinch roll is mounted in a cross-member which is suspended by way of two end plates so as to be pivotable about a fixed axis 21, essentially transversely to the principal plane of the sheets running through. At least one end plate 25 comprises two cheeks 27 and 28, which are connected 30 to one another transversely to the longitudinal axis of the cross-member 19 and in such a way as to be adjustable approximately horizontally. One cheek 27 is mounted on the shear housing on the fixed axis 21 while the other cheek 28 carries the cross-member 19 which supports the pinch roll shaft. Between the two cheeks 27 and 28 there are adjusting means 32 associated with that side of the end plate 25 which faces away from the shear housing. On the same side, there are, however, also adjusting elements 43, 44a, 44b and 46a, 46b between cheek 28 and the cross-member 19, the said elements having an approximately vertical direction of action (Fig. 3). <IMAGE>
