PURPOSE:To shorten the pre-processing time and to eliminate the high-speed working stagnation by discriminating the desired pre-processing from the undesired one at the time of high-speed working and carrying out only the desired pre-processing at the time of high-speed working when a high-speed working command is delivered. CONSTITUTION:A CPU of a numerical controller reads an NC command out of an NC tape at the time of pre-processing and decides whether this NC command is equal to an essential instruction code or not. Then the CPU carries out the corresponding processing when an essential command code is confirmed. If not, it is checked whether a high-speed mode is commanded or not. When a high-speed mode is confirmed, the pre-processing is through. If not, it is checked whether the NC command read for the normal processing is equal to a selection command code or not. When a selection command code is confirmed, the processing corresponding to this code is carried out. Then the pre- processing is through after production of the execution data. If no selection command code is decided, the execution data is produced directly and the pre- processing is through. In such a way, the pre-processing quantity is reduced by carrying out the desired processing only.
