PURPOSE:To obtain an easily sinterable dielectric material having homogeneous composition, by dissolving a specific starting raw material in an alcohol solution of a specific temperature range, hydrolyzing and coprecipitating the material, separating the precipitate and calcining at a relatively low temperature. CONSTITUTION:Metallic Sr capable of forming a metal alkoxide by reacting with an alcohol, a titanium tetraalkoxide and an inorganic Zr compound soluble in an alcohol are dissolved and stirred in an alcohol solution maintained within a temperature range above 40 deg.C and below the boiling point of the alcohol. The alcohol solution is hydrolyzed at the above temperature range to effect coprecipitation of the components and the precipitate is separated from the water-alcohol mixed solution, dried and heat-treated at 500-1,000 deg.C to obtain fine powder. A dielectric material of formula (0<=x<=0.15) giving a dielectric ceramic can be produced by this process. The dielectric material is useful for the production of e.g. a dielectric resonator for microwave transmitter, micro wave divider or board for microstrip circuit, etc.
