PURPOSE:To enable highly accurate follow-up to an operation command regardless of operating of the engine, by monitoring the operating state of the engine to correct a control constant in a control system operating to the engine, according to the monitored state of the engine. CONSTITUTION:A control correction factor 7 determines a correction value of control corresponding to the engine characteristic based on a signal of throttle opening outputted from an engine controller 2. In other words, in the area where the rate of change in the engine output torque is constant with respect to the rate of change in the throttle opening, the correction value of the control constant shall be constant. In an area where the rate of change in the output of the engine becomes less, the correction value of the control constant shall be made larger. A control constant correcting value 8 alters the operation value of the throttle opening according to the value of the control correction factor 7 to control the engine. This enable the control having a highly accurate follow-up property to an operation command regardless of the operating state of the engine.
