PURPOSE:To prevent erroneous selection and erroneous operation by detecting optically the radiated light of a microfilm irradiated from the rear face by a light source to decide the kind of the image and providing a means which selects a development mode in accordance with the decided image kind. CONSTITUTION:A start position switch 21 is provided on one of both sides of the optical path of radiated light hgamma of the microfilm passing an magnifying lens 7, and a stop position switch 22 is provided on the other side, and a photosensor 8 is moved between these switches 21 and 22. In the moving change of the photosensor 8, the range of the radiated light hgamma of the microfilm corresponds to the detection range of the photosensor 8 and the detection range of the photosensor 8 corresponds to the copy range of a copy form. An output current A of the photosensor 8 is changed in accordance with a radiation illuminance ratio of the light part to the dark part of the microfilm image. Thus, the microfilm image is judged to be positive or negative to select automatically the development for the microfilm image.
