Lifting mechanism for a ring-traveller textile machine

A lifting mechanism for a ring-traveller spinning or twisting machine comprises a plurality of ring-supporting ring rails and a plurality of spindles. Each ring rail is mounted on vertical pillars, so that the respective ring supported on the ring rail experiences a vertical to-and-fro movement along the associated spindle when the pillar executes a vertical to-and-fro movement. The pillar is designed as a screw shank and is in engagement with a corresponding nut which is mounted rotatably on a spindle rail. The respective nuts are in engagement with a common horizontal drive shaft which can be driven in one direction of rotation or the other. The nut thus also experiences an alternating rotational movement in one direction or the other, and the screw shank is driven positively to and fro upwards or downwards, thus leading to a stabilised movement of the ring rail.
