In a bandsaw, the two frame parts (2 and 3) of the machine frame (1) are also connected to one another on the side facing the cutting area by an intermediate web (5) in alignment with the bandsaw blade (9). This results in an especially robust construction, the bending and torsional stresses being reduced to a minimum. Proper guidance of the bandsaw blade (9) is ensured, and the intermediate web (5) forms a splitting wedge, which helps to increase on-the-job safety. <IMAGE>
