A headrest device, in particular for the rear seats of a motor vehicle, comprises a headrest which is mounted rigidly on a pair of struts, the struts being pivotable on a backrest support plate between a normal support position and a position folded forward in front of the backrest surface. The forwardly directed pivoting movement of the headrest is achieved via a remote-controllable drive arrangement which can be a motor drive or a spring drive. The pivoting point can itself be a part of the pivot drive.
