PURPOSE:To achieve the enhancement in the fuel distribution efficiency at the time of low load operation by supplying a prescribed fuel quantity at a prescribed period in combination with a fuel quantity of integer times the prescribed fuel quantity at a period of integer times the prescribed period in a low load operating condition. CONSTITUTION:When a control device 20 judges, on the basis of signals coming from an intake negative pressure sensor 15, an engine speed sensor 17, and the like, that an engine is not n a low load operation, a required fuel quantity V is injected into each cylinder at intervals of a prescribed period T. On the other hand, when it judges that the engine is in a low load operation, the fuel V for one cylinder for each prescribed period T is successively injected in combination with the fuel quantity nV of n times the prescribed fuel at intervals of a period nT of integer times of a prescribed period. Thus, since the fuel quantity V for one cylinder and the fuel quantity nV, n times the fuel quantity V, for n cylinders are combined suitably and injected in response to the operating condition of the engine, the difference in fuel distribution can be prevented so as to enhance the distribution efficiency, and the worsening in the emission characteristic in exhaust gases can be prevented.
